The Quigney Ratepayers' and Residents' Association (QRPRA), Team O members and residents joined by staff members from Gonubie Makro spent a day cleaning the streets of Quigney on World Clean-up Day.

Seeing adults sacrifice a weekend day to clean the street and look so jovial doing it bring hope to our generations. Communities around the world came together to make a global effort to reduce pollution and fight to maintain a better living environment.

On Saturday, the 27th of September, the teams gathered in the Quigney Heroes Park and were divided into four teams, each consisting of 4 volunteers. General Sales Manager for Makro, Lindo Ntanzi, expressed enthusiasm, stating that Makro is always on the lookout for worthy initiatives to be part of.

"Makro's values are culture and community involvement, so we are fully committed to the communities we exist within, no matter how far they are from our stores," said Ntanzi.

Satish Nair, Treasurer of the QRPRA, expressed gratitude for the collaboration the company offered the Quigney community. "Makro volunteering to assist in the Quigney cleanup serves as motivation to Quigney residents and businesses to step in and own their suburb too. It also motivates them to arrange such days with the QRPRA to do a mass cleanup".

Makro staffers donated two hours of their time to create a clean and safe environment for the Quigney community brought refreshments and snacks for all the volunteers. The dedication shown was memorable.

Such engagements foster unity between people but also promotes humanity amongst each other. This was the start of a beautiful working relationship. As runners and tourists testified, the streets were left spotless and fresh.
