PARTNERS DRIVE FOR POSITIVE CHANGE IN QUIGNEY
THE Quigney Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association (QRPRA) appreciation dinner was a platform for all stakeholders to network, share ideas, and foster working together. Hosted in July at the East London International Convention Centre (ELICC) at the beachfront, the dinner brought together community members, local businesses and stakeholders to celebrate the tireless efforts of individuals and organisations contributing to the betterment of Quigney.
QRPRA secretary and businesswoman Lwandy Ngebe, highlighted that the event’s purpose was to recognise and appreciate the dedication and hard work of QRPRA members, volunteers, and partners driving positive change in the community.
In attendance was the QRPRA committee, local business owners, residents, and employees, some of whom were previously car-washers on the beachfront who now support the association’s initiatives.
Guest speaker Mrs Lizelle Maurice, CEO of the Border Kei Chamber of Commerce, emphasised the economic benefits of maintaining clean and safe cities, inspiring continued collective action.
The dinner was a great platform for possible collaborations among community stakeholders. It allowed QRPRA to reflect on its achievements and progress over the past year, showcasing the impact of collective efforts in improving Quigney residents’ quality of life.
QRPRA has made significant strides in combating decay and lawlessness as they continue their renewal efforts. Treasurer-general, Satish Nair, expressed his appreciation for the turnout and support.
The association aims to make Quigney the best suburb by 2026 and urges residents and visitors to join them in keeping the suburb clean and green.
